HookC Wins 17th BIG EAST Game to close Regular Season

INDIANAPOLIS - The UConn baseball team (32-21, 17-4 BIG EAST) defeated Butler, 11-3, to wrap up the regular season on a steamy Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Park.
The victory was a record 17th win for a BIG EAST team in the current 21-game format that started when UConn returned to the league in 2021.Â
UConn starting pitcher Ian Cooke (4-1) was superb for the Huskies, earning the win with 7.0 innings on one-run ball that featured zero walks and 11 strikeouts.Â
Seniors Bryan Padilla and Korey Morton homered in the contest while the Huskies racked up a season-high 16 hits for the second-straight game.
Seven Huskies recorded multi-hit games in the winning effort with Morton leading the way with three runs batted in.Â
Braden Quinn and Brady Afthim each threw one inning of work to close out the sweep for the Huskies.
Next up, UConn faces No. 4 seeded Xavier on Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Prasco Park in the BIG EAST Championship.Â
