BSB: 11 Huskies Named to Respective Summer League All-Star Team

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team has had numerous standout performances this summer with 11 current or incoming Huskies earning All-Star accolades in their respective summer leagues.ย
INF Rob Rispoli and LHP Oliver Pudvar were both named to the Cape Cod League All-Star team with their performances with the Chatham A's.
RHP Garrett Garbinski and incoming 1B/3B George Slauson earned Futures League All-Star nods for the New Britain Bees. Garbinskiย has made six starts this summer and is 3-0 with a 0.75 ERA. The Clinton, Conn. native has logged 36.0 innings and struck out 20.ย
Slauson joins the Huskies after being at Saint Anselm's College. In 35 games, he is hitting .333 with 40 hits, 12 doubles, one home run and 29 runs batted in.ย
In the NECBL, UConn placed five players on the All-Star teams with Drew Smith (Sanford), Nater Wachter (Sanford), Chris Cancel (Valley Blue), Connor Lane (Mystic) and MJ Bollinger (Mystic) all representing the Huskies.ย
Smith was voted into the All-Star game after a fan vote on Instagram. The RHP has appeared in seven games and made six starts. Posting a 3.14 ERA in 28.2ย IP, the Auburn, Maine native has a 3-1 record and struck out 43. Wachter has played in 35 games for the Mainers and is hitting .242 with 29 hits, including five doubles, two home runs and 21 runs batted in.ย
Cancel has played in 25 games behind the plate for Blue Valley and is hitting .294 with nine doubles, three homers and 19 runs batted in. On the mound for the Schooners, Lane hasย appeared in 13 games and earned three saves on the bump. In 17.0 innings, he has accumulated 23 strikeouts.ย
Bollinger joins the Huskies after spending time at Florida Atlantic and Texas A&M. In 13 games out of the pen, the RHP has earned three saves and posted a 3.05 ERA. In 20.2 innings he has struck out 19 batters.ย
Two other incoming Huskies have earned All-Star recognition with outfielders Erick Diaz (Perfect Game Collegiate League) and Trajan Rogowski (California Collegiate League) having All-Star summers.ย
