Sears Called Up, Record Six HookC Players in MLB

KANSAS CITY - Former UConn baseball LHP Andrew Sears (2023) received a call up by the Detroit Tigers and made his MLB debut on August 23 against the Kansas City Royals.
With Sears appearing in a game this season, he becomes the sixth Husky to appear in an MLB game this season. That is a program record.
Sears becomes the 22nd UConn baseball player to reach the Bigs and is the 11th former Husky under head coach Jim Penders.ย
The Warwick, R.I. native is the second Husky this year to make his MLB Debut after Kyler Fedko did so in June for the Minnesota Twins.
