INDIANAPOLIS - The UConn baseball team (31-21, 16-4 BIG EAST) secured its fourth-straight outright BIG EAST regular season championship with a 12-2 victory against Butler (20-34, 5-15 BIG EAST) on a steamy Friday afternoon at Bulldog Park.

The UConn bats scored in seven of its nine at bats including a three-run top of the first to set the tone.

Stephen Quigley earned his fifth win of the season with a strong 7.0 inning performance that featured just two runs, one walk and seven strikeouts.

Paul Tammaro led the way for the UConn offense with a four-hit day that included three RBI singles, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Bryan Padilla extended his hit streak to 10 games on Friday and drove in three runs as a part of his multi-hit game.

Caleb Shpur and Korey Morton also recorded multi-hit efforts in the victory.

First baseman Maddix Dalena clubbed his 12th home run of the season with a solo homer in the third inning.

Kieran Finnegan closed out the win with 2.0 shutout innings that featured just one hit, zero walks and three strikeouts.

UConn will go for the sweep tomorrow seek a record 17 wins in BIG EAST play with the current 21-game BIG EAST format.

The Huskies are 14-3 when Caleb Shpur has been in the lead off spot.
