STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (21-20, 7-5 BIG EAST) split a doubleheader against St. John's (20-19, 7-2 BIG EAST) to salvage to series against the Red Storm on Saturday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.

In game one, St. John's rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth to erase a 5-3 deficit and clinch a series win. Anthony Belisario put the Huskies ahead in the bottom of the eighth inning with a two-out, two-run single but the Johnnies responded in the final frame to capture the series.

Cayden Suchy put together a gutsy outing on the hill with 7.1 innings, allowed two earned and struck out 10 in a no decision.

Belisario made his first start since March 6 and delivered a pair of hits and drove in three.

The Huskies bounced back after the devastating game one defeat with a complete performance in the series finale.

Oliver Pudvar tossed his second-straight seven inning complete game shutout behind the Huskies pounding out 10 runs on 13 hits.

Belisario and fellow Staten Island, N.Y. teammate Rob Rispoli each registered a three-hit game with Rispoli tying a season-high with three runs batted in. For Belisario, the three knocks set a career-best for the UConn center fielder.

Jackson Marshall extended his hit streak to 15 games and reach base stretch to 30 games after a pair of hits in the second game of the twin bill.

Madix Dalena also notched a multi-hit effort in the victory.

Next up, the Huskies head to Hartford to play Rhode Island at Dunkin' Park on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m.
