Senior Day Win Delivers Huskies BIG EAST Tournament Berth

STORRS, CT – The UConn women's lacrosse team posted a 12-10 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles in the regular season finale at Morrone Stadium on Saturday afternoon, clinching a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the sixth-straight season. The Huskies will move on to next weekend's conference tournament as the No. 3 seed.
Saturday was Senior Day and the Huskies honored their 10 departing seniors along with their families. Nora Casey, Karsyn Burnash, Rayea Davis, Barlow Clark-Schoeb, Ava Plata, Grace Winkler, Chandler McHale, Alana Goldhaber, Brooke Surace, and Olivia Marlow prior to the game.
The Huskeis never trailed on Saturday as they end the regular season at 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the BIG EAST. Megan O'Brien scored a career-high five goals and added an assist to lead the UConn offense. Lucia Smigiel finished with three goals for the Huskies while Hadley Bethke added a pair with an assist.
UConn held a 15-9 advantage in the draw circle, with Barlow Clark-Schoeb leading the way with seven. Abby Beran had five draw wins to go with a pair of caused turnovers and four ground balls. With her two caused turnovers, she became the program's all-time career-leaders in caused turnovers.
Sofia Oximana made eight saves in goal to earn her seventh win of the season.
Marquette's Riley Jenkins scored four goals for the Golden Eagles.
The Huskies will take on No. 2 seed Georgetown in the second semifinal on Thursday, April 30 at 9 pm EST. The top seeded X faces No. 4 seed Marquette in game one at 6 pm EST. The tournament will be held at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium at the University of Denver. All games will be available on ESPN+
