TYSONS, Va. - The UConn baseball team (24-20, 9-5 BIG EAST) scored a season-high 22 runs en route to a series clinching 22-4 victory against Georgetown (22-21, 4-7 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Park.Â
The Huskies blew the game open with a season-best 10-run fourth inning that saw the first 13 batters of the inning reach base. Jackson Marshall provided the big swing with the Huskies first grand slam of the season to make it 10-0. Nater Wachter went back-to-back with Marshall not only in the fourth inning but the duo hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning too.
Marshall drilled a three-run shot in the fifth inning to finish the day with seven runs batted in.Â
The Huskies hit five home runs for the second-straight game with Marshall and Wachter hitting a pair and Peyton Jemison hitting his second of the season.
Jemison had a career-day at the dish with a 4-4 day that included a pair of doubles, a home run, three runs batted in and scored five runs.Â
Wachter, Cam Righi and Anthony Belisario all registered three hit games. Chris Cancel produced a career-best three RBI and scored three runs.
Cayden Suchy (4-1) earned the win with 5.0 innings of work and handed the ball to Austin Trumpour (2 IP), Rob Gilchrist (1 IP) and Kyle Peters (1 IP) to close out the win.
The Huskies and Hoyas will close out the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. with UConn attempting to get its first sweep fo the year.
