TYSONS, Va. – The UConn baseball team (22-20, 7-5 BIG EAST) travels to Capital One Park to face off against the Georgetown Hoyas (22-19, 4-5 BIG EAST) in a three-game set beginning Friday, April 24 at 5 p.m. Saturday's contest begins at 1 p.m. while the series finale also is slated for 1 p.m. first pitch.
The Huskies sit in fourth place in the BIG EAST and are 2.0 GB of first place in the league and sit a 0.5 game ahead of Butler for the fourth and final spot into the BIG EAST Conference Championship.
UConn has relied on its weekend starters with LHP Charlie West, LHP Cayden Suchy and LHP Oliver Pudvar toeing the rubber for the Huskies this weekend. Suchy currently ranks No. 7 in the nation with 85 strikeouts and earned recognition as one of 43 pitchers to be named a College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year Semifinalist.
Jackson Marshall paces the offense by leading the BIG EAST Conference with 63 hits, 15 doubles and a .375 batting average and paces the Huskies with 10 home runs.
The Huskies are 60-23 all-time against the Hoyas and secured a home series sweep against Georgetown last season.
Connor Peek leads the Hoyas with a .369 batting average and has recorded 59 hits with 12 doubles, five home runs and 38 runs batted in. LHP Spencer Seid's 58 punch outs in 57.2 innings leads the Georgetown pitching staff.
