TYSONS, Va. - The UConn baseball team (25-20, 10-5 BIG EAST) rallied to sweep Georgetown (22-22, 4-8 BIG EAST), 3-2, on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Capital One Park.
After trailing 2-0 heading into the fourth inning, the Huskies put together a rally to tie the game. Anthony Belisario doubled off the wall in left to open the frame and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Cam Righi was then hit by a pitch to place runners at the corners and Jackson Marshall got UConn on the board with an RBI ground out to short that allowed Righi to advance into scoring position.
After a balk allowed Righi to go to third, Nater Wachter tied the game with a base hit through the drawn in infield.Â
LHP Oliver Pudvar logged his third straight start of 7.0 innings and kept the Huskies in the game with zero earned runs allowed and only allowed one base runner the third time through the order.
In the seventh, the Huskies put together a two-out rally with Maddix Dalena getting hit by a two-strike pitch and advancing to second on a chopper by Chris Polemeni that got by the third baseman.Â
Redshirt sophomore captain Rob Rispoli delivered an RBI single to plate Dalena and give UConn its first lead of the day, 3-2.Â
Charlie Hale came out of the pen and fired 2.0 scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season and lock down the Huskies first one-run win of the season.
Next up, the Huskies take their season-best five game win streak to Piscataway, N.J. against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Tuesday, April 28th at 3 p.m.
