STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (20-19, 6-4 BIG EAST) suffered a 4-0 setback against St. John's (19-18, 6-1 BIG EAST) on Friday night at Elliot Ballpark.
In the 110th game in Elliot Ballpark history (88-22), Friday was the first game the Huskies had been shut out in their home ballpark.Â
It is the first time UConn has been shut out in Storrs since losing to East Carolina, 3-0, on May 20, 2017 at J.O. Christian Field.Â
UConn was held to four hits by Liam O'Leary in a complete game shutout performance with Jackson Marshall collecting two of them.Â
St. John's centerfielder John LeGrande shined defensively by robbing Rob Rispoli of a hit in the third and took away extra bases from Cam Righi in the fourth.
Charlie West (3-4)Â took the tough luck loss after pitching 8.0 strong innings and stuck out 10.Â
Next up, the Huskies and Johnnies will wrap up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
