Beran Earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Honors

STORRS, Conn.- For the second consecutive week, UConn women's lacrosse junior defender Abby Beran has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced in a release on Monday.
Beran tallied four ground balls, caused three turnovers, and notched four draw controls in a win over Fairfield, eclipsing 100 for her career. In a close defeat against nationally-ranked James Madison, Beran recorded six ground balls, caused two turnovers and had three draw controls.
Beran ranks second in the conference and seventh in the nation in ground balls (5.67), and third in the conference in caused turnovers (2.67).
UConn sophomore attacker Megan O'Brien was named to the weekly honor roll after tallying 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) in her last two games. O'Brien leads the team with 15 points and leads the conference with nine assists.
UConn returns to action on Tuesday, February 24th at 3:00pm against Stony Brook at Morrone Stadium.
