Huskies Clash Against In-State Foe Fairfield

STORRS, Conn.- UConn women's lacrosse will look to bounce back Wednesday afternoon, traveling to take on in-state foe Fairfield at 3:00 pm on ESPN+.

The Huskies fell in their season-opener last Friday against Drexel, dropping the contest 12-11 in double overtime. Freshman Hadley Bethke excelled in her collegiate debut, scoring five goals, highlighted by a game-tying goal with 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Bethke's five goals were the most scored by a UConn freshman since Sydney Watson in 2018.
Abby Beran kicked off her junior campaign with a dominant showing on the defensive end. Beran tallied multiple career-highs, notching eight ground balls and five caused turnovers. The eight ground balls were the most by a UConn player since Grace Beshlian in 2019.
Opposition Research:
Fairfield defeated Rhode Island 13-6 in its season opener. Kelly Haggerty and Mary Henry each scored three goals in the win. Haggerty was unanimously named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after scoring a team-high 47 goals. The Stags went 11-8 last season, winning the MAAC Championship and falling to Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Fairfield was selected to repeat as MAAC Champions in the preseason poll, coaches' poll, earning 11 of 12 first-place votes.
UConn defeated Fairfield 18-5 last year on February 12th, 2025, in Storrs. Rayea Davis led the way for the Huskies with six goals in the win. The Huskies lead the all-time series 11-3.
