Huskies Notch Road Win at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- UConn women's lacrosse defeated Fairfield 10-6 on Wednesday afternoon at Conway Field for its first win of the 2026 season.
How it Happened:
Kelly Haggerty opened the scoring for the Stags, finding the back of the net to give Fairfield a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the first quarter. UConn had several chances in the opening period, but Whitney Robinson made six saves to keep the visitors scoreless. Charlotte Loughlin converted a feed from Katie Bergen to double Fairfield's lead as the second quarter began.
Mary Henry capitalized on a UConn green card to stretch the Stag advantage to 3-0. Rayea Davis got the Huskies on the board with her second goal of the season, cutting the Fairfield lead to 3-1. Tessa Caputo scored on a woman-down situation to re-up the Stag lead to 4-1 with under nine minutes left in the second. Megan O'Brien cut into the lead with her second goal of the season, bringing the Huskies within two goals. After a Fairfield goal, Davis scored her second of the day, as the hosts took a 5-3 lead into the halftime break.
O'Brien tallied her second of the day to bring the Huskies within a goal with seven minutes left in the third. Fairfield's Kyleigh Turano scored on the woman-up advantage, but Davis responded to complete the hat trick with three minutes to go in the third to bring UConn within a goal at 6-5. Davis tied the game at 6-6 for the Huskies on the free position, for her fourth goal of the afternoon.
Sofia Oximana made a key save to keep the score tied, setting up Hadley Bethke to score the go-ahead goal, pushing the Huskies in front 7-6 with six minutes to go. Bethke continued to perform in the clutch, scoring just minutes later to pad the UConn lead to 8-6. Emma Dacey tacked on two goals in the fourth, lifting the Huskies to a 10-6 road victory.
Notes and Numbers:
- Bethke's seven goals lead the Huskies on the season
- Davis continues her strong play against Fairfield, scoring 10 goals in the last two meetings against the Stags.
- Beran notched four draw controls to eclipse 100 in her career. She is the 11th Husky in program history to accomplish this feat
- O'Brien recorded five points (two goals, three assists). The sophomore leads the team with 10 points on the season
- The Huskies held Fairfield to just one goal in the second half, closing the game with six unanswered goals.
