Lacrosse Ready for Road Matchup Against UAlbany

STORRS- UConn women's lacrosse (4-2) Â returns to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to New York's capital city for a matchup against the University at Albany Great Danes. The Huskies rebounded from a close loss last Wednesday night at Harvard, with a win over UMass in Storrs on March 1st. UConn was led by BIG EAST Attacker of the Week Eliza Bowman, who tied a single-game program record with 8 goals against the Minutewomen. Megan O'Brien has continued to excel in her first collegiate season, adding a career-high five points (4 goals and 1 assist) in the home win. The offensive outburst was full of milestones, with captain Riley Daly and freshman Camryn Calabro both scoring their first career goals. The Husky defense held UMass to only one goal in a tightly contested fourth quarter, anchored by a career-high four caused turnovers from JoJo Gum. Â
UAlbany Snapshot (1-4):
The Great Danes welcome UConn to town after picking up their first win of the season over Colgate, 15-14. UAlbany was paced by Courtney Rowe and Dylana Williams on the attack, with both players leading the team with five goals each. Mikaela Mooney recorded a hat trick in the win to go along with a team-high four assists. Mooney leads the Danes in points (16), with 7 goals and 9 assists on the season. Mackenzie Salentre anchors the UAlbany defense, with 8 ground balls and 7 caused turnovers. The Danes were selected to finish second in the America East after sharing the regular season championship in 2024 with Binghamton, who defeated them in a close America East semifinal last May. UAlbany is led by Head Coach Katie Thomson, who is in her seventh season at the helm. Thomson led the Great Danes to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in 2023, after winning the America East Tournament and Regular Season Titles, finishing 13-7 overall.
