» The UConn men's hockey team will close out the regular season at Vermont, Thursday
night.
» The Huskies are coming off a sweep of Northeastern and sit in fourth place in hockey
East standings. UConn can finish anywhere from 3rd place - 6th place, as 1
point separates them from 5th place Providence, and 4 points separates them form 6th
place UMass.
» This will be the third matchup between the two teams this season. The previous two
matchups took place in November which resulted in a weekend split with both teams
earning an overtime win.
» Huskies Power Play: Comparing the Huskies Power Play units from last season to this
season the Huskies have a +8 PPG differential and a +9.5% Power Play Percentage differential. The Huskies are just one of 7 teams to have surpassed their total PPG numbers
from last season.
» Jake Richard has found his stride of late extending his point streak to 9 straight games,
meanwhile his linemate Joey Muldowney has been on a hot streak registering a point in
8 straight games and 10 of the last 13.
» Record Breakers: Hudson Schandor and John Spetz both made UConn history over the
weekend. Schandor surpassed Jachym Kondelik, becoming the leader for total points
in the Hockey East era, while John Spetz surpassed Joe Masonius for most points by a
defenseman in the Hockey East era.
» Record Breakers pt.2: Hudson Schandor once again inked his name in UConn record
books as he broke the program record for most assists in a single season in the Hockey
East Era. Additionally, Joey Muldowney broke the record for most goals scored in a
single season in the Hockey East Era with 20 goals. Muldowney passed Tage Thompson
who finished the season with 19 goals scored.
» Short Handed Strengths: The Huskies are currently lead the country with 9 short handed
goals scored.
» Huskies in the NHL: Marc Gatcomb has become the 9th Husky to reach the pros, having most recently been called up by the New York Islanders. Gatcomb joins, Chase
Bradley, Ruslan Iskhakov, Yan Kuznetsov, Todd Krygier, Cole Schneider, Max Letunov,
Adam Huska, and Tage Thompson as former Huskies to make it to the league.
