STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (13-16) run-ruled Bryant (19-11), 12-1, in eight innings on Tuesday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.
Luke Broadhurst led the way offensively with his three-hit day that featured a pair of home runs including his two-run shot in the eighth inning that ended the game.
Jake Studley had a strong day at the dish in his first game in the leadoff spot. The UConn right fielder had a two-run single in the second inning and followed it up with an RBI single in the eighth.Â
Maddix Dalena posted a multi-hit performance that included a pair of RBI doubles.Â
Caleb Shpur extended his season-long reach base streak to eight games with an RBI single and a walk.
On the mound, Ben Schild maneuvered around trouble throughout his outing, going 3.1 innings, scattering three hits, one walk, three strikeouts while giving up just one run.
Joe Carrea followed by logging 1.1 shutout innings that included stranding a runner at third in the fourth inning.Â
Lefthander Braden Quinn came out of the pen for the third-straight game and fired 2.1 shutout frames that featured zero hits, three walks and four strikeouts.Â
Charlie West pitched a scoreless 1-2-3 inning that included a pair of punch outs. Â
Next up, the Huskies continue its season-long home stand against Maine on Wednesday, April 10 at 3:05 p.m.
