UConn Falls to Creighton

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team fell to Creighton 5-2 in a Big East matchup in Orlando at USTA National Campus Friday night.
UConn now stands at 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big East Conference. For Creighton, the Bluejays finished their week in FL playing their fifth match of the week. Creighton started out fast in doubles play taking the doubles point with wins at first and second doubles.
Then, UConn would come back to battle in singles play with wins at first and fifth singles. Olivia Wright would edge her way to a straight set win putting up a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Cameron Didion followed that up with a second set tiebreak fight. Didion would go on to win 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Although the Huskies would battle tough, the Bluejays would take the other four singles points.
"We came up against a tough opponent in Creighton today," Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall said. "They were on their fifth match in Florida, and it showed. We took awhile to find our footwork and rhythm in doubles, but responded much better in singles play. Olivia and Cameron had nice wins, and 3 of our other matches were very close. We will definitely take some positives from the match, as we battled and put up a strong fight all the way to the end."
Next up for the Huskies is a matchup against Navy for the second match in Orlando, Fla. on Monday, Mar. 13. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.
