UConn, JMU Primed for Neutral Site Matchup

STORRS, Conn. – Wrapping up its three-game road trip to open up the season, UConn women's lacrosse heads to the U.S Lacrosse Headquarters in Glencoe, MD for a neutral site matchup against No. 9 James Madison The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.

Opponent and Series History…
- UConn and JMU have met on the field just five times, but the Dukes hold a 3-2 advantage.
- Sunday is the first Division I lacrosse game of 2019, both men's or women's, to be played at the home of US
- Lacrosse. It is the second college matchup as Division III's St. Mary's and Dickinson men play on Saturday.
- JMU has won the last two matchups against the Huskies, most recently a 21-9 win at last season's meeting at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters.
- The Dukes come into the matchup with a 1-1 overall record. They dropped their season opener on the road at No. 2 UNC, 18-7, before bouncing back with a strong six-point win against No. 14 Virginia Tech, 14-8
Last Time Out…
It was a hard fought battle and a strong effort by the UConn women's lacrosse team (0-2) but the Huskies fell, 13-7, to Fairfield Wednesday afternoon at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium.
Junior Olivia Myles recorded a hat trick (three goals) and sophomore Sydney Watson tallied two goals to pace the Huskies. Senior Caitlin Leary tallied two points on the afternoon (1g, 1a), while classmate Dani Dunn found the back of the net once. Sophomore goaltender Annie Carroll earned the start, posting 11 saves.

Katie Woods enters her 9th season at the helm of the UConn Lacrosse program in 2019. The most successful coach in UConn women's lacrosse history, Woods has accumulated a 107-96 record, six winning seasons and two conference Coach of the Year Awards during her time in Storrs.
