Women’s Lacrosse Set to Battle In-state Foe Fairfield Wednesday Afternoon

STORRS, Conn. – Continuing its three-game road trip to open up the season, UConn women's lacrosse travels 90 minutes up the road for an inter-conference clash with Fairfield on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Facebook Live.

- UConn and Fairfield have met on the field 16 times previously, with the Huskies holding a 12-4 advantage.
- UConn won last season's matchup, 13-12. Senior Kelsey Catalano posted a season-high three goals in the win and a program-record 11 draw controls. Grace Nolan (2g, 2a) and Sydney Watson (2g, 2a) each tallied four points to lead the way, while junior Lexi Kenneally chipped in three points of her own with a pair of goals and an assist. With the victory, Coach Woods earned her 100th career victory.
- Fairfield opened the 2019 season with a 13-9 win at Holy Cross on Saturday. Taylor Mitchell set a pair of career highs with five goals and six total points. Jillian Winwood added four goals for the Stags, while Meaghan Graham racked up four points on four assists.
Last Time Out…
UConn fell to No. 13 Syracuse in its 2019 season opener, 18-6. Senior Caitlin Leary and sophomore Abby Vetsch scored two goals apiece, while junior Olivia Miles and sophomore Sydney Watson also found the back of the net.

Katie Woods enters her 9th season at the helm of the UConn Lacrosse program in 2019. The most successful coach in UConn women's lacrosse history, Woods has accumulated a 107-96 record, six winning seasons and two conference Coach of the Year Awards during her time in Storrs.
