Huskies Travel to Memphis, SMU

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team will hit the road this weekend for conference matchups with Memphis and Southern Methodist. The Huskies (8-10, 2-4 American) will take on the Tigers on Friday, October 18th at 8:00 pm (ET) in Memphis. UConn finishes the weekend in Dallas against SMU on Sunday, October 20th at 2:00 pm (ET). After dropping a third straight conference game, the Huskies are looking to bounce back this weekend.
This Week's Matchups
Memphis (11-7, 0-6 American) is coming off of two conference losses against SMU (3-1) and UCF (3-0). The Tigers began the season on an 11-0 run, but have dropped their last seven games, including all six conference games and now sit at the bottom of the American west division. The Memphis offense is led by Hannah Flowers with 209 kills at 3.22 kills/set, hitting at a .312 clip on the season, and Meredith Wallace who has tallied 206 kills at 3.12 kills/set. Sabrina Bianco supports the offense with a team-high 702 assists at 10.17 assists/set. The Tiger defense is backed by Sabria Cooper and Kaitlyn Gehler. Cooper has a team-high 48 total blocks this season and Gehler has recorded a team-high 254 digs at 3.85 digs/set.

SMU (11-5, 4-2 American) comes off a weekend sweep of Memphis (3-1) and USF (3-1). The Mustangs have won their last four conference games and sit in second in the American west division. Hannah Jacobs leads the team with 202 kills and 3.74 kills/set this season. Lily Heim's team-high 676 assists and 11.46 assists/set bolster the Mustang offense. Meryn Kennedy's 52 total blocks and Montana Watts' 268 digs and 4.70 digs/set lead the SMU defense.
Last Time Out
The Huskies dropped two home conference games last weekend against Cincinnati (3-0) and East Carolina (3-0). R-Junior Genna Florig hit at a team-high .364 on the weekend, recording 10 kills, four digs, and four blocks. Sophomore Kennadie Jake-Turner also recorded 10 kills and added three digs and five blocks over the weekend. Freshman Aset Baker-Falealili led the Husky defense with 19 digs and 3.17 digs/set. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris tallied a team-high 38 assists and 6.33 assists/set over the weekend.

UConn returns home to host Wichita State on Friday, October 25th at 7:00 pm at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies then host Tulsa in an afternoon matchup at Gampel on Sunday, October 27th at 12:00 pm.
