Huskies Head to Chicago for DePaul Invitational

UConn set to face DePaul, Florida Atlantic and Purdue Fort Wayne
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn Huskies head back out on the road this weekend with a stop in Chicago on tap to take part in the DePaul Invitational. The Huskies will face Florida Atlantic and the host Blue Demons on Friday and take on Purdue Fort Wayne to close out the tournament on Saturday.
- The Huskies are off to a 5-2 start to their season and coming off a 4-1 week on their home court in Gampel Pavilion. UConn dispatched Quinnipiac in three sets to start the week and then beat New Hampshire and Iona on day one of the UConn Challenge, earning head coach Kris Grunwald his 100th career victory.
- Freshman Caylee Parker (Windsor, Ontario) earned herself a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week. Parker chipped in a pair of double doubles last week and led the Huskies with 52 kills, averaging 3.47 kills per set. She also totaled 35 digs (2.33 per set) and had eight blocks. Parker registered 16 kills and 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Iona and 18 kills and 10 digs against Syracuse.
- On the season, Parker ranks third in the AAC averaging 3.73 kills per set. She has a team-best 93 kills on the season and is third on the club with 57 digs, an average of 2.28 digs per set.
- Senior setter Emma Turner (Winter Park, Fla.) is leading the AAC in double doubles with five through seven matches this season. Turner is averaging 10.52 assists per set and has collected 81 digs, second on the club (2.79 per set). She ranks second in the AAC in assists per set.
- Senior libero Elizabeth Kline (Glenshaw, Pa.) earned All-Tournament team honors at the UConn Challenge after collecting 46 digs on the weekend (3.54 per set). Kline is ninth among AAC leaders averaging 4.00 digs per set on the season.
- Sophomore Isabelle Peterson (Gardnerville, Nev.) also was named to the All-Tournament team last weekend. She is currently third in the AAC in hitting percentage at .376 on the season. She has recorded 41 kills in 85 attempts with just nine errors.
- Senior Danielle Cabel (Bettendorf, Iowa) returned to the Husky lineup this season after missing all but five matches last fall due to injury. Cabel is second on the team with 69 kills and is averaging 2.38 kills per set and also has 13 total blocks this season.
