UConn Volleyball Heads South for Dolphin Volleyball Classic

STORRS, Conn. - Following its opening weekend at the Penn State Invitational, UConn volleyball heads to Jacksonville, Florida, for the Dolphin Volleyball Classic, Sept. 4-5. The Huskies will face Coastal Carolina, Florida A&M and Jacksonville across the tournament.

UConn is coming off the Penn State Invitational, where the Huskies opened the weekend with a closely contested 2-3 loss to High Point before dropping straight-set decisions to No. 10 Penn State and Hofstra.

Despite the results, freshman middle blocker Courtney Grayson turned in a standout collegiate debut and was named to the Penn State Invitational All-Tournament Team. Grayson totaled 23 kills, 27 points and eight block assists across the three matches while hitting .526 on 23 kills and 38 attempts. Her .526 hitting percentage currently ranks first in the BIG EAST.

Coastal Carolina Clash

UConn and Coastal Carolina will meet for the first time in program history. The Chanticleers enter the weekend following a 1-1 opening weekend, falling 3-1 to Duke before earning a 3-2 victory over Queens.

Sophomore Bella Loeswick recorded double-digit assists for the first time in her career, dishing out 11 against Duke, while Jonna Spohn posted a career-high 18 digs in the match.

Battle With The Rattlers

The Huskies and Florida A&M have met just once, with UConn earning a 3-0 sweep in the lone matchup in 2008.

The Rattlers enter the Dolphin Volleyball Classic following a 1-2 opening weekend. Florida A&M fell 3-1 to both North Carolina Central and Delaware State before closing the weekend with a 3-0 sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore.

In the victory, Sydney Whitfield led the Rattlers with 11 kills, while Kelly Kelsick paced the defense with nine digs.

Duel With The Dolphins

UConn will close out the tournament against host Jacksonville in the first meeting between the two programs.

The Dolphins went 2-1 during their opening weekend, sweeping Southern University and Jacksonville State before falling 3-2 to Southern Miss. Jacksonville has now won four consecutive season openers.

The Huskies will look to pick up their first win of the 2026 season as they continue action in the Sunshine State.
