UConn Opens Conference Slate with a Loss to Florida

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's lacrosse team opens its conference schedule with a loss to No. 3 Florida on Saturday as the Huskies dropped a 20-10 decision to the Gators at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
UConn falls to 3-5 on the season overall and Florida extends its win streak to seven-straight games and is now 7-1.
Senior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.), junior Kelsey Catalano (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and sophomore Anna Costello (West Hartford, Conn.) each tallied a pair of goals for the Huskies.
Florida's Mollie Stevens and Lindsey Ronbeck both scored five goals apiece to take credit for 50 percent of the Gators' scoring.
After trailing Florida by four goals at halftime, UConn scored first in the second half to make it 9-6 with 27.26 to play in the game.
The Gators outscored the Huskies 8-2 in the last 15:50 to seal the win with a 10-goal lead. Freshman goalkeeper Grace Beshlian (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with nine saves against Florida.
Florida led the game in draw controls 20-11. Sophomore Brooke Jensen (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) took credit for six of UConn's 11 draws.

The Huskies return to the Sherman Complex on Saturday, March 25 when they host conference-rival Georgetown at 1 p.m.
