Monroe Named First Team All-America

Monroe was recently selected to the NSCAA/adidas All- American, an honor she has been tabbed with every since playing at UConn. As a freshman she was a First Team All- American, in the 1999 season she was named a Second Team All-American, and this season she also earned Second Team honors. Starting and playing in all of UConn's 26 games this season, she finished the year third on the team in scoring with 16 points on six goals and four assists. Monroe was selected to the 2000 All-Big East First Team and to the NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region First Team as well as being named Hermann and M.A.C. Trophy finalist for the second straight season.
Connecticut ended the season with a 17-7-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 record in the Big East Northeast Division. UConn was crowned the Big East Northeast Regular Season Champions and then fell to Notre Dame in the finals of the Big East Tournament Championship game, 1-0. Twentieth- year head coach Len Tsantiris led the Huskies to their 19th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and their eighth straight NCAA Quarterfinal appearance, the 15th overall year since the tournament began. UConn fell to the eventual 2000 Women's College Cup Champions North Carolina, 3-0, in a quarterfinal game held in Chapel Hill, NC, on Nov. 24.
