WSOC Hits The Country Road to Play No. 8 WVU

MORGANTOWN - The UConn women's soccer team (2-1-2) travels to No. 8 West Virginia (5-0) for an old BIG EAST clash on Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Huskies enter after their best offensive performance of the season with a five-goal outburst against LIU last Sunday in Storrs.ย
Freshman Maeve Staunton earned BIG EAST Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week honors after scoring a pair of goals (both of penalty kicks) and added an assist.ย
The UConn offense ranks 24th in the nation with 8.60 shot on goal per game.ย
Sunday will be the first time the Huskies have played a top-10 opponent since playing at No 9 Memphis in 2019.ย
The Huskies are 11-4-3 all-time against the Mountaineers with the last meeting coming in Storrs in 2011. The last UConn win came in 2007 and last win in Morgantown was in 2006.ย
West Virginia is 5-0 record on the season with a victory against No. 23 Penn State. Sophia Nickel paces the offense with three goals and seven points while Bailey Herfurth has pitched three shutouts in goal this season.
