HookC Loses at Boston College

BRIGHTON, Mass. - The UConn baseball team (20-18) dropped its midweek contest at No. 24 Boston College (28-12), 8-5 on Wednesday afternoon.Â
The Huskies took a 1-0 lead on a two-out RBI double for Jackson Marshall in the first inning. It is the fourth-straight game the first baseman has driven in a run.
After the Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first, Peyton Jemison answered with an RBI double into right field to even the game at 2-2.
Cam Righi put the Huskies back in front with an RBI triple, his third of the season, to make it 3-2 Huskies. Righi finished the day with his 11th multi-hit game of the year.Â
A three-run fifth for the Eagles reclaimed the lead but the Huskies battled back with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to make it 5-5.Â
But Boston College immediately scored three in the bottom half of the frame and held on for an 8-5 victory.
Frank Spirito (1.2 IP) and Drew Smith (1.1 IP) led the way on the hill with scoreless outings. Evan Hamberger also retired the lone batter that he faced.Â
Next up, the Huskies host St. John's this upcoming weekend in Storrs beginning Friday, April 17 at 6:05 p.m.
