Huskies Head West to Face Colorado

STORRS- The UConn women's lacrosse team will head west this week, taking on two ranked opponents in Colorado. The Huskies will take on No. 14 Colorado on Wednesday evening and No. 20 Denver on Sunday afternoon.

UConn fell to No. 6 Yale on Saturday afternoon, losing 17-5 in New Haven. The 17 goals were the most given up by the Huskies this season. Yale's tough defense continued to shine, holding UConn to a season-low five goals and recording 25 ground balls. Megan O'Brien continued her streak of registering multi-point games in every game this season, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist against Yale. Ava Plata had her third consecutive multiple-point game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists. Abby Beran led the Huskies with five draw controls, adding three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Opponent Research:
Colorado enters the matchup with a 5-2 record, ranked 14th in the country. After a narrow loss to No. 8 Michigan, the Buffs got right with an 18-3 win over Stetson. Colorado upset No. 2 Northeastern on Feb 9th. Colorado has the third-best scoring defense in the country, allowing only 6.43 goals per game. Goalkeeper Elena Oh anchors the Buffs with a .506 save percentage, the seventh-best mark in the country. The Buffs rank 15th in the country in caused turnovers per game (11.00). Colorado was predicted to finish third in the BIG 12, behind Florida and Arizona State.
