Huskies Battle No. 6 Yale on Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's lacrosse (3-3) aims to win its third straight game on Saturday, facing sixth-ranked Yale (6-0) in New Haven at 3:30 pm.

The Huskies delivered a solid performance last time out, securing a road victory over UMass with a 12-8 score on March 7th. Megan O'Brien continued her strong start to the season in the win, scoring four goals and recording three draw controls. O'Brien leads UConn with 26 points this season, earning multiple points in every game.
On the defensive end, Abby Beran continued to excel for the Huskies. Beran contributed significantly with six caused turnovers, five ground balls, three draw controls, and scored the second goal of her college career. Beran was named the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.
Ava Plata had her second straight multi-point game against UMass, scoring two goals and dishing out two assists. McKenna Merkel scored the first two goals of her college career in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Opposition Research:
Yale starts the weekend with an undefeated 6-0 record and is ranked sixth in the nation. The Bulldogs have outscored opponents 95-34. Kelly Holmes and Kate Gould lead the Yale offense, tying for the team lead with 24 points each. Gould also leads Yale with 41 draw controls.
Goalkeeper Niamh Pfaff anchors a tough Yale defense that allows only 5.67 goals per game, the second-best in the country. Pfaff leads the nation in goals-against average (6.02). Yale was predicted to finish third in the Ivy League behind Princeton and Penn. The Bulldogs went 15-4 last season, won the Ivy League Tournament, and reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
Yale leads the all-time series against UConn, defeating the Huskies 17-8 on March 12th, 2025.
