Lacrosse Takes on UAlbany on Saturday Afternoon

STORRS, Conn.- UConn women's lacrosse (1-3) closes out February on Saturday, welcoming the UAlbany Great Danes (3-1) to Storrs. Opening draw is slated for 3:00 pm at Morrone Stadium.

In its home opener, UConn was defeated by No. 18 Stony Brook 16-5 at Shenkman Training Facility. Megan O'Brien tallied two points to continue the strong start to her sophomore season. O'Brien leads the Huskies with 17 points on the season. With a goal on Tuesday, Hadley Bethke has scored in four straight games to begin her UConn career.
Abby Beran continues to anchor the UConn defense. Beran notched five ground balls, caused three turnovers, and secured five draw controls in the defeat on Tuesday. The junior standout leads the country with 5.75 ground balls per game.
Opposition Research:
UAlbany comes to Storrs sporting a 3-1 record on the season. The Great Danes defeated Niagara 14-9 on Wednesday afternoon. Paisley Cook broke the single-game America East record with 21 draw controls in the win. Cook and Delilah Mile were named to the preseason all-conference team, with the Great Danes predicted to repeat as America East champions.
Last season, the Huskies defeated UAlbany 15-4 in New York's capital city. Rayea Davis led the way for UConn with five goals. The Huskies are undefeated all-time against the Great Danes, winning all seven matchups between the schools.
