Huskies Settle for Scoreless Draw at NJIT

NEWARK, N.J. – The UConn men's soccer team played the NJIT Highlanders to a scoreless draw on Thursday night Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium. UConn moves to 1-0-2 this season.
Redshirt-sophomore Kyle Durham made his third start of the season in goal for the Huskies. Durham earned his second clean sheet, making a career high five saves in the contest.
Each team had chances on goal in the first half, as both teams registered two shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Both teams pressed for a potential game-winner in the second half. Nicolas Tomerius, Balthazar Saunders, Evan Pickering, and Preston Alessio all recorded multiple shots, as the Huskies outshot the Highlanders 7-6 in the final 45 minutes. Alessio earned his first career start for the Huskies playing all 90 minutes.
Durham made a key save in the 85th minute, denying NJIT of a late game-winner.
