WSOC Heads to Lone Star State to face Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - The UConn women's soccer team (1-0) travels to SEC country to face Texas A&M (1-0-2) on Saturday night at 9 PM ET / 8 PM CT at Ellis Field. The game will be streamed on SECN+.Â
The Huskies are coming off a victory in their season opener against Stony Brook, 1-0. Two-time All-American Chioma Okafor notched her first goal of the season in the 11th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Ava Yamas and the UConn defense secured its first shutout of the season.Â
The trip to A&M is the first regular season non-conference trip outside the Northeast region since UConn traveled to Fayetteville, Ark. in 2018.Â
The Huskies defeated the Aggies 6-0 in Storrs last season. Midfielder Anaya Johnson scored and chipped in an assist while senior captain Abbey Merchant also tallied a helper.Â
UConn was 5-1-3 on the road last season including an NCAA Tournament First Round victory at Rutgers. Saturday will be the first of nine road games on the schedule this season.Â
The trip to Texas is the first for the UConn program since 2018 when the Huskies were a member of the American Athletic Conference and played SMU and Houston on the road.
