Huskies Close Home Slate Against Butler and Xavier

STORRS, Conn.- UConn women's volleyball (17-7, 6-6 BIG EAST) returns home this weekend for the final two home matches of the season. The Huskies will face Butler on Friday at 5:30 pm and battle Xavier on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
Scouting the Huskies
UConn split last weekend's road matchups, falling to St. John's in four sets on Friday before bouncing back with a sweep victory over Seton Hall. Emma Werkmeister led the way for the Huskies, pacing the UConn attack with 16 kills on a .438 hitting percentage. Despite the loss to St. John's, Werkmeister poured in a match-high 17 terminations. The senior outside hitter has recorded 335 kills this season (3.81 per set) and ranks second in the nation in aces (60) and aces per set (.68). Jess Perry tied her season-high in the win over Seton Hall with 10 kills. Doga Kutlu conducted the offense for the Huskies, chipping in 30 helpers against St. John's and 29 in the victory over Seton Hall. Kutlu ranks third in the BIG EAST with 9.20 assists per set.
Opposition Research
UConn will take on Butler (12-13, 5-7 BIG EAST) on Friday. The Bulldogs split last weekend's matchups at Hinkle Fieldhouse, taking down Georgetown in four sets before falling to Villanova in four. Elise Ward led the way for Butler in the win with 19 kills. Alaleh Tolliver chipped in 17 kills to fuel the win for the Bulldogs. Tolliver has a team-high 346 kills on the season (3.84 per set). UConn swept Butler earlier this season at Hinkle on October 11th.
The Huskies will battle Xavier (22-2, 11-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon in the home finale. The Musketeers come to Storrs on a ten-match winning streak, with their only conference loss coming at Creighton on September 26th. Xavier protected home court last weekend, sweeping both Villanova and Georgetown. Macy Hatkevich was named BIG EAST Setter of the Week earlier this week, averaging 11.17 assists per set and 1.67 digs per set. McKinley Boehm earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for the Musketeers, anchoring Xavier with 2.00 blocks per set and a conference-high .556 hitting percentage. Xavier took down the Huskies in four sets at the Cintas Center on October 10th.

Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Following Friday's match, UConn will recognize the eight student-athletes in the senior class of 2025.Â
