ALBANY, N.Y. – The UConn women's lacrosse team (7-5) is set to travel to Albany to take on the UAlbany Great Danes on Saturday afternoon. Opening draw is set for 1:00 pm at John Fallon Field.
The Huskies, 4-1 in conference, haven't lost a game since opening BIG EAST play with a loss at Denver late last month. Since then, UConn has beaten their opponents by 10 of more goals in each game. Susan Lafountain scored a season-high five goals for the Huskies, while Eliza Bowman scored four. Senior attacker, Abby Charron, was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week.
The UConn defense has been impressive, totaling 16 caused turnovers in their win over the Xavier Musketeers last Saturday. The Huskies are fifth nationally and second in the BIG EAST in caused turnovers per game, as well as 23rd nationally and first in the BIG EAST in ground balls per game. Goalkeeper, Landyn White, who recently set the program record for total wins as a goalie and surpassed 700 goals saved, ranks fifth nationally in save percentage and first in the BIG EAST.
UAlbany is 4-8 on the season, with three out of their four wins being in-conference. The Great Danes are coming off a loss at UMBC last weekend, their first conference loss of the season. This game marks the sixth time the Great Danes and Huskies have squared up, with all five previous games being victories for the Huskies. UConn last saw UAlbany in 2023 in a home contest that ended at 20-12.
