Huskies Return Home For Matchup With Villanova

STORRS--Â The UConn women's lacrosse team (3-7, 0-2 BIG EAST) will return home for the first time in over a month, welcoming Villanova (7-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) to Storrs to open April on Wednesday.

The Huskies will look to snap a four-game losing streak, falling to Georgetown on Saturday in DC by a score of 18-7. Rayea Davis scored four goals against the Hoyas, matching her season-high for the season (2/11 at Fairfield). UConn's freshmen continued to impress on Saturday, with McKenna Merkel (one goal, one assist) and Hadley Bethke (one goal, one assist) helping fuel the UConn attack. UConn goalkeeper Sofia Oximana made ten saves against Georgetown, marking the fourth time this season the junior has recorded double-digit saves in a game.
Opposition Research:
Villanova comes to Storrs after an upset win over No. 2 Stanford on Saturday in Philly. In Nova's biggest win in program history, Emma Verhoest broke the program record for draw controls, now with 384 in her career. Verhoest has a team-high 106 draw controls on the season. Villanova has a balanced scoring attack, with six Wildcats recording double-digit goals on the season. The Wildcats took both matchups against the Huskies last season, including a win in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinal on May 1st, 2025.
