Huskies Set for Final Non-Conference Game of the Season

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The UConn Women's Lacrosse team is set to travel to New York, NY to play Cornell in their final non-conference game of the season. This is the third and final Ivy opponent that the Huskies will face. Opening draw is scheduled for 7:00pm at Robert K. Kraft Field.
UConn is coming off a road win against Hofstra University on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies pulled off another overtime win against the Pride; it was their third OT game of the season and their third OT win.
The UConn offense had another strong showing on Tuesday as junior, Susan Lafountain, notched four goals on the day. Senior, Grace Coon, notched a hat trick, including the game-winning overtime goal for the Huskies. Senior, Kate Shaffer and grad student, Lia LaPrise, had two goals each to push the Huskies towards the win, while Madelyn George, Rayea Davis, and Kaitlyn Tartaglione each had one.
Grad student goalkeeper, Landyn White had 14 saves in the overtime win against Hofstra on Tuesday afternoon. Senior defender, Ariana Kline, had seven draw controls and two caused turnovers, while Julia Ozimek notched three ground balls and Amanda McMahon scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
This will be the fourth time the Huskies and Lions meet. UConn has won three of the four previous games. This will be the second time that the Huskies have traveled down to NYC to take on Columbia.
Scouting Columbia
The Lions come into the game 3-7, having lost to UNH earlier this week in a comeback win for the Wildcats. UConn played UNH earlier in the season, beating them 17-6 at home. Dani Falcone had a team-high five draw controls, while Julie Griswold caused three turnovers and notched two ground balls. Ellie Taylor, Cordelia Flemming, and Falcone each had two goals in the loss. Goalkeeper, Ella Sangree, had six saves.
