Boston, Mass. - The UConn Women's Rowing team competed on Saturday at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Â UConn had one entry in the Club Four event where they finished 13th out of 52 with a time of 18:59.7. Duke won the event with a time of 17:46.12.Â
Collisions are a common occurrence in head racing when crews are trying to pass one another or get the shortest distance to the finish line. Coxswains play a pivotal role in navigating their boat from the start to finish. In today's race UConn experienced a collision while attempting to pass a crew that was not yielding to them as they passed. Â
Coach Sanford commented  "Having a collision in a head race never helps anyone get to the finish line faster whether you're the faster crew or slower crew that gets caught up in each other. Outside of that incident, the boat was happy with how they rowed the race and thought it was a strong piece.  I'm proud of their effort today and look forward to having more Husky boats race next weekend at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philly."
