HARTFORD, Conn. – The Huskies opened their fall season with an outstanding performance at the 28th annual Head of the Riverfront Regatta on Sunday, highlighted by three first-place finishes on the Connecticut River.
In the Women's Open 8+ 'A' crossed the line first in a competitive 19-boat field, while the 'B' crew placed 12th overall. The Women's Novice 8+ also delivered a dominant performance in its debut, claiming first place against five other entries.
The program's depth was on full display in the Women's Open 4+, where all four boats finished in the top 10 of a 20-boat field. 'A' secured first place, followed by 'C' in third, 'B' in fifth, and 'D' in eighth.
"I'm really excited about how we performed today," said head coach Jennifer Sanford who enters her 29th season as the Huskies head coach. "All of the boats followed their race plan and had solid rows. Winning each event we entered is a great confidence booster for our program as we look ahead to other fall races and the spring. Overall it was a great day for the Huskies."
The Huskies return to the water at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass., October 21–22.
