Softball set to host a pair of midweek matchups

Storrs, CT – The Huskies (24-13, 13-2 Big East) are coming off a weekend sweep of Creighton and currently riding a six game winning streak. UConn has been swinging the bats extremely well. This past week, the Huskies as a team had a .405 batting average, scoring 40 runs in 4 games. They also stole 14 bases as well, moving their total to 86 stolen bases on the year.
The pitching staff also put up impressive numbers this past week boasting a combined 2.62 era as a staff. Collectively, they had 36 strikeouts, 24 of them coming from Freshman, Elise Sokolsky.
On Tuesday, the Huskies will take on Rhode Island. The Rams (9-23) are currently riding a four game winning streak. They are led by Junior, Rachel Zingerman, who holds a .301 batting average on the year with nine extra base hits, and 12 runs batted in. First pitch is set for 4:00pm.
On Wednesday, UConn will welcome in state foe, Fairfield. The Stags (6-16) are led by Junior, Haley Updegraff. She has a team high .322 batting average scoring 17 runs on the year for the Stags. The game will start at 6:00pm.
