HookC Welcomes Hartford for Home Opener

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (8-1) welcomes the University of Hartford to Elliot Ballpark for the team's home opener on Tuesday, March 8 at 3:05 p.m. at Elliot Ballpark. The game will be streamed on FloSports and can be heard on the UConn Sports Network from Learfield - 97.9 FM ESPN Hartford.Â
The Huskies are riding a seven-game win streak that has given them their best start to a season since going 14-0 to begin the 1971 season.Â
UConn leads the country with a 7-0 road record this year but are excited to return to Elliot Ballpark. The Huskies were 16-1 in their first season at their new home in 2021.
The Huskies are 41-16 all-time against the Hawks with the last eight meetings split, 4-4. UConn alum Steve Malinowski is in his first season as head coach at Hartford, the UConn graduate played two seasons for the Huskies. John Slusarz, a two-year member of the Huskies, is also on the Hawks coaching staff.
UConn will also welcome back 2021 graduate Ben Maycock who is playing the 2022 season in West Hartford. The Newington, Conn. native played in 51 career games for the Huskies.
Former All-American and Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Kay is scheduled to throw out the first pitch on Tuesday. The left-hander was a MLB First Round draft pick back in 2016.Â
