Softball Kicks off their conference opener at St. John's

Queens, NY – The UConn Softball team opens BIG EAST Conference play this weekend at St. John's.
The Huskies will play a double header on Friday at 12:00pm and 3:00pm. The third game of the series will be on Sunday at 12:00pm.
UConn (9-10) is coming off a tough pre-season schedule. They will look to build momentum heading into conference play. Senior Briana Marcelino has been a steady force at the top of the Huskies' lineup. She holds a .403 batting average with 14 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases. Freshman Rosie Garcia is coming off one of her best weekends as a Husky. At the Carolina Classic she held a .462 batting average with three home runs, and five runs batted in. Marcelino and Garcia both took home BIG EAST honors this week with Garcia receiving Freshman of the Week. They will look to continue their hot streaks into conference play.
The Huskies will open their conference slate with St. John's. The Red Storm (3-14) are led by Freshman, London Jarrard who holds a team high .378 batting average with 14 hits, and seven runs batted in on the season.
The Huskies hold an all-time record of 60-18 versus the Red Storm. The games will be streamed on ESPN3.
