STORRS, Conn. -Â Returning to the road to face its second straight America East opponent, the No. 25 UConn women's lacrosse team will visit New Hampshire on Sunday, Feb. 27 for a 1 p.m. start.
Sunday's matchup will feature UNH head coach Kacie Lewis '13 going head-to-head against her former coach and co-worker Katie Woods. Lewis was a two-time team captain at the midfield and played a key role in guiding UConn to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013. The California native rejoined the Huskies as an assistant coach in 2017, where she served two seasons on Wood's staff.
Senior Sydney Watson continued her torrid pace to start the season as she led UConn in goals (6), points (8) and draw controls (13) in Thursday's home opener win vs. UMass Lowell. Watson is riding a 25-game point streak and is 29 goals away from becoming UConn's all-time leading goal scorer.
Fellow senior Landyn White has posted double-digit saves in all three contests this season and sophomore Georgia Hoey made her collegiate debut against the River Hawks.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
UNH is coming off a 10-7 win at Merrimack for its first win of the season, which also marked Kacie Lewis's first career win as a head coach. Liv Dunn was the team's top returning scorer heading into the 2021 season and is the current leader in points (5) on three goals and two assists. At the midfield, Jesslyn Hounchell is the team leader in ground balls (5), while Delaney Pratt is the primary threat on the draw (7). Issy Torres has seen the majority of time in net, posting a 10.65 goals against average and .500 save percentage.
THE SERIES
The Huskies hold an 11-7 edge in the all-time series dating back to 1997 and have won six of the last seven matchups.
