No.6 FH Drops Season Opener, 4-0, at No. 4 Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. - The No. 6 UConn field hockey team dropped its season opener, 4-0, at No. 4 Northwestern on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field.
Cheyenne Sprecher made seven saves in defeat while the Wildcats outshot the Huskies 16-4 and produced a 9-3 advantage on penalty corners.
Four Huskies made their debuts with Sophia Ugo and Nanne Eijkman getting the start and Madison DiPietro and Madi Herb coming off the bench for UConn.
Firday's win for the Wildcats was the first for Northwestern in its series against UConn. The Huskies won each of the first six meetings between the schools.
The loss snaps a streak of 19-straight wins in season openers for the Huskies, The last loss came against Hofstra in 2002.Â
UConn will look to rebound tomorrow against No. 21 Miami (OH) at 1 p.m. ET at Lakeside Field.Â
