STORRS, Conn. - Four different Huskies found the back of the cage as UConn cruised to a 4-0 victory over Temple on Friday.
UConn controlled play from the opening whistle and struck first in the sixth minute when Emma Larit scored to give the Huskies a 1-0 advantage at 5:47 of the opening quarter.
The Huskies doubled their lead midway through the second period. Following a penalty corner, Olivia McKenna finished a chance created by Charlotte Ritter and Lucy Zich at 21:49, sending UConn into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
UConn continued its offensive pressure coming out of the break. Just 55 seconds into the third quarter, Lucy Zich converted on a penalty corner opportunity with assists from Milou Heuker and Ritter to push the lead to 3-0.
The Huskies added one final goal early in the fourth quarter when Paige Keller scored just 25 seconds into the period to cap the scoring at 4-0.
Defensively, UConn held Temple scoreless and limited the Owls' opportunities throughout the contest. Goalkeeper Natalie McKenna made three saves to record the shutout.
UConn generated consistent pressure in the attacking end, earning multiple penalty corners and outshooting Temple throughout the match. The Huskies received goals from Larit, McKenna, Zich, and Keller, while Ritter recorded two assists.
Up next, the Huskies head out on the road to take on Georgetown on Friday October 16th, at 1pm in Washington, DC.
