MANUEL FINISHES FIFTH AT MOUNTAINEER INVITE

BRIDGEPORT, WVa. – UConn freshman Caleb Manuel recorded the first Top 10 finish of his college career as he led the Huskies' effort in the Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by the University of the West Virginia at the Pete Dye Golf Club.
Manuel (Topsham, Me.) fired a 4-over, 71-73-76=220 to finish in a tie for fifth in the large 81-player field. The total included Manuel's seventh round of par or better and his first Top 10 and fourth Top 20 finish of the 2021 spring season. His 11 birdies tied for second-most in the tourney.
Manuel led UConn to a sixth-place finish in the 13-team field. The Huskies shot an aggregate 309-298-298=905, just five strokes behind fifth-place Chattanooga. Host school West Virginia won the event (873).
Junior Jared Nelson (Rutland, Vt.) was next on the leaderboard for the Huskies, finishing in a tie for 29th with a 13-over, 83-73-73=229. Freshman Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) finished 33rd with a 14-over, 79-74-77=230.
Also for the Huskies, freshman Jimmy Paradise (Tampa, Fla.) shot a 16-over, 82-78-72=232, to finish in a tie for 36th and shoot his second par-or-better round of the season. Senior Rodrigo Sanchez (Santo Domingo, D.R.) was in a tie for 67th after a 77-80-84=241, and sophomore Logan Broyles (Mendon, Vt.) finished 78th with a 90-80-81=251.
UConn continues its spring season with its final regular-season event on April 17-18 at The Rutherford, on the Penn State Blue Course at State College, Pa.
Following that, the Huskies will compete in the BIG EAST Championship on April 26-28 at the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Fla.
