Huskies Sixth at WVU Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational

FARMINGTON, PA – The UConn men's golf team rounded out play at the 2026 Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in sixth place in the 16 team field at the event hosted by West Virginia at the Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort.
The Huskies finished with a 54-hole score of 878 (+14) on the par 72 ,7.526 yard course in Farmington, PA. UConn shot a 300 over the opening 18-holes and improved in each round. The Huskies shot 299 in round two and 292 in round three.
Fellow BIG EAST member Seton Hall took home the team title at the event shooting 863 (-1) one stroke better than Eastern Michigan in second and six strokes ahead of the host Mountaineers in third.
Junior Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) was the Huskies top finisher this week, recording his second top-20 finish of the season. Costello was +3 for the tournament, firing a 219 to finished tied for 16th overall. Costello posted a 73 in round one and came back to shot two under, 70, in round two. He finished out the event with a 76 on Tuesday.
Fifth year Justin Burroughs (Pensacola, FL) just missed a top-20 finish, shooting a 220 (+4) to tied for 21st. Burroughs shot 78 and 74 on Monday and came back with a four-under 68 on Tuesday, his lowest round of the season.
Junior Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) finished tied for 35th overall with a score of 224 (70-80-74). Freshman Yves Koller (Zurich, Switzerland) was tied for 41st with a 225 (74-73-78) and sophomore Brennan Korn (Flagstaff, AZ) rounded out the UConn lineup tied for 45th with a 226 (76-77-73).
UConn had a pair of golfers in the Shepard's Rock Individual Championship held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort also in Farmington. Sophomore Matthew Oliveira (Dartmouth, MA) finished tied for sixth in the 14 golfer field, shooting 222 over the three rounds on the par 72 course. He shot 73, two under 70 and 79. Classmate Brayden Jenard (Jupiter, FL) was eighth with a score of 225 (76-73-76).
The Huskies will return to action next week when they play at the Moraine Intercollegiate in Dayton, OH on Monday and Tuesday, October 12-13.
