BSB Routs St. Joseph's, 13-0, to Claim Series Win

PHILADELPHIA - The UConn baseball team (6-11) put together its most complete performance of the season with a 13-0 rout on Sunday at St. Joseph's. The win secured the first series win of the year for the Huskies.
The Huskies received an outstanding pitching performance from starter Austin Peterson. The right-hander dealt 7.1 shutout innings, allowed two hits and struck out eight en route to his second win of the season.
UConn provided plenty of offense on Sunday by tying a season-high with 13 runs scored. Kyler Fedko and Pat Winkel each homered and drove in three.
Zach Bushling was 4-4 on the day with four runs scored and reached base all five times on Sunday.
The Huskies shined on defense with a couple nice plays in the outfield from Kevin Ferrer and Erik Stock while Bushling made a nice play defensively at shortstop.
Ferrer added production with the bat as well, collecting three hits including a two-run double.
Out of the bullpen, Justin Willis retired both batters he faced in the eighth. Reggie Crawford made his first appearance on the hill in 2021 with a 1-2-3 ninth inning that featured two strikeouts.
Next up, UConn opens up its brand new ballpark, Elliot Ballpark, on Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m. against Central Connecticut State.
