UConn will take on No. 19 nationally ranked Boston College this weekend in a home-and-home Hockey East series. The Huskies will head to BC on Friday night and return home to the XL Center to host the Eagles on Saturday. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on NESN.
The Huskies are coming of a Hockey East split last weekend with Merrimack. UConn went on the road and grabbed a 3-2 win at Lawler Rink but dropped the return match-up on their home ice, 3-2. UConn was held to season-low totals in shots in both games, getting 18 on Friday night and 17 on Saturday.
The Huskies scored their first power play goal of the season in Saturday's loss, ending an 0-for-11 streak that started the season. Sophomore Kale Howarth scored on UConn's first power play chance of the game in the first period but the Huskies went 0-for-5 the rest of the way in the 3-2 loss.
Friday night's match-up will mark the 13th meeting between UConn and Boston College on the ice. The Eagles won all three meetings with the Huskies last season and now hold a 9-2-1 edge in the series. The Huskies are looking for their first win at BC's Conte Forum (0-5-1)
The Huskies are in the midst of a 10-game run through November, their busiest month of the season. Of the 10 games on the slate, six are against teams currently ranked in the national polls and six are schedule for their home ice at the XL Center.
The Huskies have a plenty of youth on their roster in 2019-20 with 18 combined sophomores and freshmen, and that youth has powered the offense in the early going. Of the 10 goal scorers thus far, nine are either a freshmen or sophomores, and the two classes have combined for 31 of the team's 41 total points (13/19a) through five games.
Sophomore Jachym Kondelik had a pair of goals in last Friday night's win, his first career multi-goal game. His first goal of the night came shorthanded, the Huskies first shorty on the season and the first of his career. Kondelik has four goals on the season, matching his season total from his rookie campaign. His six points (4g/2a) leads the Huskies. He was the team's top-returning point producer after finishing his rookie season with 26 points (4g/22a), second on the club.
Sophomore goaltender Tomas Vomacka has played every minute this season and sports a 2.83 goals against and a .911 save percentage. In the season opener at Sacred Heart, Vomacka made a career-high 45 saves, 20 in the second period alone, including stopping a penalty shot.

The Huskies began to rally with Iskhakov's second on the night just 1:06 in the third to cut the lead in half. UConn junior Wyatt Newpower pulled the Huskies to within 4-3 at the 6:14 mark.
