Viking Gustafsson Nyberg Signs with Minnesota Wild

STORRS, Conn. – UConn junior defenseman Viking Gustafsson Nyberg has signed a two-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2025-26 season with the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.

Gustafsson Nyberg played in two games with the Iowa Wild of the American League since signing an Amateur Tryout agreement with Minnesota on April 6, recording one assists.

For the 2025-26 season, Gustafsson Nyberg recorded 11 assists and helped anchor a blue line that led the Huskies to their second consecutive Hockey East Championship and NCAA tournament appearance. In two seasons with the Huskies, Viking totaled 21 points, on one goal and 20 assists with 113 blocked shots.
