- The UConn Huskies will take on the UMass Lowell River Hawks in a weekend home-and-home Hockey East series starting Friday night at home in the XL Center. The teams will face-off again on Saturday at the Tsongas Center at 5 pm.
- Since joining Hockey East in 2014-15, the series between the Huskies and River Hawks is dead even at 4-4-1. Last year, UMass Lowell swept the season series for the first time, winning 5-2 at home and getting a 1-0 shutout in Hartford.
- After this weekend's series, the Huskies will take off from Bradley Airport on Sunday evening to travel to Northern Ireland for the Northern Irish Connections Friendship Four in Belfast. UConn will face Boston University in a Hockey East match-up on Friday, November 23 and either state-rival Yale or Union from the ECAC on Saturday, Nov. 24.
- The Huskies snapped a two-game slide on Tuesday night with a non-conference 3-1 win over Brown in the XL Center. Husky freshman Jonny Evans had his first multi-goal effort with a two-goal night while senior Max Kalter sealed the win with a late empty net, shorthanded goal.
- UConn freshman goaltender Tomas Vomacka got his third start of the season on Tuesday night and his first in front of the home crowd at XL Center. Vomacka made 25 stops to earn the win and on the year has a 2-1-0 record with a 1.30 goals against and a .950 save percentage.
- Junior goaltender Adam Huska followed up his 39-save shutout performance at Vermont by stopping 36 shots in last Friday's loss at Northeastern. Huska has played in seven games this season, posting a 2.57 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
- Freshman Jachym Kondelik continues to lead Hockey East and is fourth nationally among rookies in scoring with 10 points on 10 assists. His 10 assists (1.00 pg) also leads Hockey East. He has three multi-point games on the year. The UConn freshmen class as a whole leads the team with 28 points (7g/21a) this season.
- Junior Alexander Payusov is off to fast start offensively with a team leading eight goals in 10 games, tying him for first in Hockey East. The junior forward has picked-up three power play goals as well.Â
- Senior Karl El-Mir has seven points on the season on five goals and two assists, leaving him tied for fifth among Hockey East goal scorers. He has 20 career goals and 22 career assists.
- The Huskies will be road warriors for the first three months of the season, playing just five times at the XL Center in their first 21 games.

UMass Lowell got two goals apiece from John Edwardh and Ryan Dmowski on the way to a 5-2 win at home in game one of two-game weekend series with the Huskies. The River Hawks built a 2-0 first period lead and never trailed. Dmowski added an assist to his two goals for a three point night. Charlie Levesque scored the other UML goal. For UConn, Spencer Naas scored while Max Kalter added a shorthanded goal in the third period. In goal, UML junior Christoffer Hernberg stopped 23 shots to record the win. The Huskies held a 25-24 edge on shots but were 0-for-4 on the power play.

UML's Hernberg turned away 33 shots in leading the River Hawks to 1-0 win at the XL Center to sweep the season series. UConn outshot UMass Lowell, 33-15, and nearly doubled them up on shot attempts, 68-39 but couldn't crack Hernberg. The River Hawks got the only goal they would need at 7:10 of the second period with Connor Wilson finishing off a feed from Kenny Hausinger. Both teams were 0-for-3 on the power play.
Scouting the River Hawks
The River Hawks head into this weekend's home-and-home series at 4-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the league. UML faced two Hockey East opponents this past weekend, skating to a 2-2 tie with New Hampshire at home on Friday night and falling to Northeastern in overtime, 5-4, on the road. Junior Ryan Lohin is leading the River Hawks with six points on four goals and two assists in only six games. His teammates, Kenny Hausinger, Sam Knoblauch and Ryan Dmowski each have six points as well this season. Lohin is coming off of a 25-point sophomore campaign coming on nine goals and 16 assists. UML's goaltender, Tyler Wall, comes in third among Hockey East goaltenders with a 1.98 goals against average and fourth with a .924 save percentage. Wall is 2-3-1 on the season with senior Christoffer Hernberg owning a 2-2-0 overall record. UMass Lowell finished seventh in Hockey East last season and were tabbed to take seventh in this year's preseason coaches' poll.
