Men’s Basketball Heads to the Big Apple for Championship Rounds of 2K Empire Classic

STORRS, Conn. – UConn men's basketball hits the road for the first time this week, as it travels to New York City to compete in the championship rounds of the 2K Empire Classic, played at the historic Madison Square Garden on Nov. 15 and 16. The entire 2K Classic will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
An old Big East rivalry will be renewed Thursday night, as the Huskies (2-0) battle it out on the hardwood against former conference foe, 15th-ranked Syracuse (2-0). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
The 2K Classic benefits the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization designed to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

- UConn and Syracuse square off for the 95th time, with the Orange leading the all-time series 38-56. UConn fell in last year's tilt, 72-63.

Leading the Pack…
Coach Dan Hurley enters his first season at the helm after he became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, Hurley spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island, and owns a collegiate coaching record of 153- 105 (.593). He is coming off two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and last season was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
